About Soma

Soma is a vinyasa yoga & breath work practice, based in the heart of Surrey run by Jo Porter (500hrs RYT).

The name originates from the Vedic principle of bliss and internal happiness, something I believe we have the power to re-create for ourselves when we take the time to re-connect with our soul selves… and this all begins and ends with the BREATH.

Passionate about the power of the breath and breath lead movement to help support, navigate and alleviate the challenges of life today, Jo offers both vinyasa yoga classes and / or 1-2-1 breath coaching as a way to access these tools for yourself.

Vinyasa Yoga:

All classes are creative, intelligent and progressive; coordinating movement with breath, as you flow from one pose to the next. Carefully crafted to ignite a level of positive change, leaving you empowered, balanced and connected on both a physical and energetic level.

This moving meditation brings multiple physical and mental benefits: releasing toxins, burning calories and re-energising the body whilst simultaneously relaxing mental tension and releasing energy blockages from the body.

With small, friendly and intimate classes you’ll get the personalised attention and hands-on adjusts you need, to get the most out of your practice, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced yogi.

Breath Coaching:

1-2-1 sessions are tailored to meet specific student needs and / or ailments. Having graduated from The Breathing Institute, I use a combination of ancient Tibetan practices and cutting edge, scientifically backed techniques that enable the simple power of the breath to bring positive change, in a fast and easy to access way. By making seemingly small and simple changes to the way we breathe, we can help alleviate a range of physical, mental and emotional ailments in a major way. Put simply, you have the power to breathe yourself better.
